When you say you'll be using mostly ePub format, do you mean because of the library books? If it's only because of that, and your library uses Overdrive, then you can probably go with a Kindle and use the Kindle format library ebooks. You can then manage the book (returning it or sending it to another device) via your Amazon account. If you have a Kindle, you get to Overdrive via a computer, and the ebook gets sent to your Kindle through wifi. Do you know what service your local library uses for ebooks? If it's Overdrive, that does have both the ePub and Kindle formats. I have the Kindle Paperwhite, and love it, but as others said, it does not support the ePub format.
